Hunters Point Quilt Pattern Launch
Introducing the Hunters Point Quilt
I have been spending less time designing lately and more time exploring my neighborhood here in San Francisco. My family moved to the Bayview / Hunters Point area a couple of years ago, and we have been learning a lot about the history of this area. The neighborhood has been finding a balance between rapid redevelopment and holding on to a deep and rich history. Hunters Point has been primarily industrial, with a lot of old buildings and shipyards still standing. I love observing these old buildings, seeing the jagged beams holding the structure, and the broken window panes from years of withstanding the elements. When I felt ready to put pencil to paper again and create a quilt design, I kept doodling the same jagged angles over and over again, reminding me of the fragments of buildings that remain. This quilt honors the history of the Bayview / Hunters Point area through the connection of classic quilting techniques (quarter log cabins) and the modernity of the layout and color story.
Vibrant. Energetic. Dynamic.
