Haight Quilt Pattern Launch

Introducing the Haight Quilt

I have always been enamored with the striking architecture of the homes within San Francisco. Every day that I venture out, I find a new home with new shapes, sharp angles, and exquisite ornate detail. The vibrant colors and contrast bring out the pulse of the city and perfectly showcase how artistic and creative the people are. I designed this quilt with this in mind, taking into account the gorgeous Victorians that stand tall in the Haight District. While this district is known for its forward thinking and peace-and-love mentality, the homes that reside here really show the spirit. I’m excited to bring this quilt to you all to capture the essence and pristine structure that is showcased in the Victorian homes all throughout the Haight and the City of San Francisco.

Ornate. Bold. Sharp.

This pattern is rated at an Intermediate level and is traditionally pieced, assembled on point, has biased edges in block construction, and requires scant 1/4 inch seam allowance. Pattern includes three sizes: Baby, Throw, Bed, with the Baby size being slightly altered in design.

Cover sample uses Ruby Star Society Speckled fabrics in White Gold, Polar, Galaxy, and Bluebell. Baby sample uses Ruby Star Society fabrics from the Spark collection in Lipstick and Peony and from the Camellia collection in Spritz in Tropic and Parlor in Tropic.

Quilt kit bundles can be purchased through the Sarah Jean Makes shop as well with Pasadena Quilt Studio.

The Haight Quilt comes in three sizes and has an alternate layout for the baby size.

Pattern Tester Versions

When Jeanne (IG: @jeanne.garcia) told me she was interested in testing the Haight Quilt at a Bed size, I thought she was joking because it’s such a massive make! She absolutely blew me away with her finished piece. The fabrics she chose were so cool and very much reflective of her style that I’ve come to know and love. I’m so impressed by this behemoth of quilt, it’s so beautiful!

Kersten (IG: @quilty_kersten) used all solids to create her graphic throw sized version of the Haight Quilt. I love how she incorporated complimentary colors through the blue gradient and the bright orange. The balance and visual impact of this quilt is incredible and I am completely blown away by how vibrant it is! Gorgeous finish, Kersten!

Amy (IG: @amyjohnstonrobertson) is always a show-stopper when it comes her to stylized color palette. The way she blends color and print is magnificent and always brings a smile to my face! In her make, she showcased this beautiful floral print as the center focal point and her craftsmanship really shines through. It’s amazing, Amy!!

Elysha (IG: @quiltblocked) played with the contrast between soft and sharp with her baby quilt. The sweet and soft print she used for the center of the blocks in direct opposition with the deeply saturated green really gave a beautiful visual interest in her quilt. Her finish is stunning and I’m so impressed! I love it, Elysha!

Tina (IG: @milmiria) made such a chic and timeless baby sized version of the Haight Quilt. The fabrics she selected really pop against the soft cream background and are so beautifully balanced. I am so impressed by Tina’s version, it really shows how the pattern can lend itself to a modern aesthetic. Gorgeous make, Tina!

Fiona (IG: @princess_fiona_h) spoke directly to my inner child with her throw sized Haight Quilt, using all of my favorite colors from my childhood! The striking contrast between such a beautiful yellow and a bold and bright pink made for such stunning blocks and created wonderful movement on the quilt top. I adore this version!

Lydia Rose (IG: @lydia.rose.arts) created a beautifully saturated and bright throw sized Haight Quilt. This deep red background color really allowed for the purples and greens to pop, highlighting the design of the blocks beautifully. And the vintage style fruits and flowers fabric?! Just darling! Well done, Lydia Rose! You made an incredible quilt!

Natalie (IG: @natalienovacek) used this stunning blue floral fabric for the background of her baby sized Haight, and the texture is just amazing! She used beautifully rich contrasting colors for the quilt blocks which resulted in a beautiful finish. This was Natalie’s first time testing for SJM and it was so great having her on the team!

Mikaela (IG: @mtquiltingbee) joined the SJM test group for the first time with the Haight Quilt and she created the most beautiful and understated version! She used a stunning sunflower fabric and a complimentary bee fabric and it all came together in just a perfect mixture of classic sweetness. It was such a pleasure having her on board!

Rachel (IG: @littlebitsalove) made a baby version of the Haight Quilt and chose deeply saturated fabrics. The way her colors play off of each other and really highlight the sharp angles and shapes of the quilt is stunning. I love the bold energy her version gives and I am always so delighted to watch her grow as a quilter!

Ursula (IG: @osita_handmade) used a beautifully complimentary color palette in her sample of the baby sized Haight. As always, her craftsmanship is impeccable and she created such a remarkable piece! Well done, Ursula!
