Quilt Swirl Wednesday

Quilt Swirl Wednesday was a trend I created on Instagram on November 25, 2020 after posting a swirl photo and wondering aloud if #QuiltSwirlWednesday was a thing. Melissa, of House of Vines Studio, encouraged me to make it a regular occurrence, and off it went! Each week I posted my quilt swirls and encouraged my followers to do the same, using the hashtag to gather all the swirls in one spot. For each swirl that I was tagged in, I would post in my Instagram stories to create a Quilt Swirl Wednesday parade to show off all of the glorious makes of the community. The start was slow, but as it caught on, it became a big trend! Needless to say, I am forever amazed by the support and engagement of the modern quilting community. There is so much creativity and enthusiasm within each person who has participated. It is incredible to see this trend come to life!

So… What comes next?

I have decided I will be taking a back seat from now own. It was a lot to manage being the one-woman hype team behind the trend and now I am encouraging the community to run with it. It has been such a pleasure to watch this small idea grow into something so large and I am incredibly proud of what it has become.

With this post, I share a small bit of the history behind Quilt Swirl Wednesday and am so excited to see how it transforms and grows within our quilting community. It’s almost like watching your baby grow up and go off to school…. make me proud little one!

Here is most of my contributions for Quilt Swirl Wednesday… enjoy!
